Hi, I’m Shani

I’m the host of A Single Serving Podcast and the author of A Single Revolution. I’m changing the narrative around being single, because so far it’s had pretty bad PR. I’m not an advocate for singlehood. I’m an advocate for women feeling good while single—there’s a difference.

Yes, Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Is Worth It

Yes, Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Is Worth It

This is a cost-per-use analysis of my $60 face cleanser. I have been waiting a year to write this. Because that’s how long my bottle of Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder has lasted.

If you’re wondering what on earth it is, Amore Pacific’s Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder is a “powder to foam exfoliating daily cleanser powered by plant-derived enzymes that remove dead skin cells, impurities, and makeup while leaving skin moisturized.” But really, it’s the best face cleanser I’ve ever used. In my life.

I was introduced to this product via a sample size that I got with Sephora rewards points a very long time ago, and for subsequent years was somehow satisfied with hopping from sample bottle to sample bottle, hoarding it like it goddamned powdered diamonds. Genuinely speaking, it’s the only cleanser that has ever made a noticeable difference in the smoothness of my skin.

I received my first full-sized bottle of this cleanser during the 3rd week of June, 2019. It was given to me as a birthday gift from my best friend because she thought my behavior with those sample sized was sad and she was right. For the sake of the argument that follows, let’s assume I received and began using it on June 17th, 2019 which is 49 weeks ago as I write this.

49 weeks is 343 days. I use this cleanser every morning (and some evenings, but for the sake of argument let’s just use mornings). Let’s also assume I was away from home for two weeks of total travel time, taking our usage down to 47 weeks or 329 days. If I used this same bottle of cleanser every morning for 329 days that means the cost per use for one bottle of Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder is approximately eighteen cents. The way this stuff makes your skin feel is worth way more than 18 cents per use. Just sayin.

Note that this is not what I use to remove makeup, for that task I use micellar water and Neutrogena Hydro Boost Exfoliating Cleanser. The Amore Pacific powder cleanser is the start of my routine every morning.

I cannot believe one bottle of this stuff lasted so long. I will stress that you really don’t need much powder to generate a wonderfully foamy and potent face wash, which really helps it on the longevity front. The photo above is the photo of my 2nd full-sized bottle of this product, which I purchased myself like a grown up to replace the bottle that nearly lasted me a damn year.

If you’re looking for a wonderfully high-performing, gently exfoliating face cleanser, do not let this price tag scare you. And if it does, just do the math on the bottle of product you’re currently using, and factor in how happy you are with those results. Cost per use is everything with this product, and it’s worth it, and then some.
