Hi, I’m Shani

I’m the host of A Single Serving Podcast and the author of A Single Revolution. I’m changing the narrative around being single, because so far it’s had pretty bad PR. I’m not an advocate for singlehood. I’m an advocate for women feeling good while single—there’s a difference.

Podcast Episode: What Do You Mean By That?

Podcast Episode: What Do You Mean By That?

Note to listeners: This episode was recorded in very early 2020 and held from release due to it’s originally scheduled publishing date coinciding with the very beginning of the COVID-19 crisis. My guest and I are both so happy to share this discussion with you now.

Dr. Kris Marsh, PhD., is a sociologist, demographer, and author of the forthcoming book, "The Love Jones Cohort: Single and Living Alone in the Black Middle Class." In this episode, she discusses the experience and the study of single Black women, as well as the importance of studies that go beyond what exists or what is happening, and dive into why they're happening. Dr. Marsh also answers questions from podcast listeners via the Facebook group. This is an episode for anyone who has ever felt like their single status has made them feel somehow societally lacking. (Spoiler: who you are does not lack anything at all.)

Listen to this episode via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, or below. Your host would truly appreciate a rating and review on Apple Podcasts.
