Astrid & Agatha, My Fiction Hobby
Of all the 2020 goals I outlined for myself, there is but one that a global pandemic cannot shoot to shit. I wanted to write more fiction. Perhaps I should have specified that I didn’t necessarily want that fiction to be inspired by pestilence and plague, but let’s take what we can get, shall we?
In moments of stress and disconnection from my inner creative, I turn to those who came and wrote far better before me. I watch a lot of Jane Austen movies, is what I’m saying. From one such weekend of woe where I barely peeled myself from the couch but to source more sparking water and baby carrots, I felt compelled to introduce the world to Agatha and Astrid. Astrid is the older, wiser, more mysterious and independent aunt, while Agatha is her beloved niece. We don’t yet know the extent of the family tree, it is safe to say that Agatha and Astrid are the closest among their relations. At least, they were before sickness and distance kept them in quarantine several towns apart.
Below, the full extent of my female bond exploration, best read in the order presented, though each installment can stand alone if you get a phone call in the middle of reading or something.
