There's No Such Thing As "Your Turn" To Find Someone
When I hear from members of the single community, I hear the same things.
“I want to delete my dating apps, but then I feel like I’m not doing enough.”
“I just feel like it should be my turn by now.”
All of the messages I receive have some element of things I’ve thought before, and no longer do. I know what it’s like to feel like you have to “do enough” to fix your singleness. I know what it’s like to feel exhausted with endless trying, and endless bad experiences in the dating space. I don’t feel this way anymore, so I try to help others feel better too. I wrote the essay below for a community of single people that’s about get bombarded with dating app advertising and discounts ahead of Valentine’s Day. You deserve something to balance the other end of the teeter-totter. And if you call a see-saw a teeter-totter, you are my friend.
