Hi, I’m Shani

I’m the host of A Single Serving Podcast and the author of A Single Revolution. I’m changing the narrative around being single, because so far it’s had pretty bad PR. I’m not an advocate for singlehood. I’m an advocate for women feeling good while single—there’s a difference.

The Best Inside Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis

The Best Inside Shoes For Plantar Fasciitis

In my never-ending quest to become a plantar fasciitis influencer despite not being able to spell plantar fasciitis without spell-check, I have been road testing, or rather…hard wood testing several pairs of “inside shoes” during quarantine. I have very severe bone spurs in both my heels. This is from roughly seven years of walking about four miles a day all over Manhattan in shitty shoes. Basically what this means is that I can’t ever wear flats again, and I always have to have my heels slightly elevated in the manner of an ankle bootie or something in order to walk comfortably and not make my condition flare up so that I can’t walk at all. It also means that I can’t be barefoot. Ever. It sucks, but there are hacks. And shoes.

After months of flip-floping around my apartment in various footwear, I have concluded that the Arla Glison Thong Sandal by Clarks is the BEST “inside shoe” for people with plantar fasciitis who can’t walk around barefoot anymore. People, it’s like walking on a stress ball. The shoe gives your foot support, and bone spur-friendly elevation, but at the same time they are very, very light, so you won’t mind walking around the house in them for literally the whole day. I wear them from the second I get out of bed until I get right back in there at the end of the day, with a brief break for showering but honestly I’ve thought about getting a second pair to wear in there, too.

Are they cute? Absolutely not. Do people experiencing the pain of plantar fasciitis give a hoot? Absolutely not. They come in eight styles, but I bought the ones shown above because I found them to be the least visually offensive. After I put them on, I wouldn’t have cared if they were hunter orange. Let yourself experience the very special joy of the most comfortable house shoe I’ve ever owned, and because you’re home, revel in the fact that no one can see, judge, or tweet about the style choices you’ve made for your feet.

I got mine on shoes.com, which is the most effective website name in existence, and right now the site is offering 25% off everything. ALSO—if you have Rakuten, which I suggest you get, you will get 16% cash back from this purchase which is the highest cash back I’ve ever seen. (I get a check with my cash back money 4x a year and every single time, it brings me joy.) They also showed up at my door less than 48 hours after I’d ordered them, which is potentially some form of wizardry. I could keep talking about my shoes, or I could get up from my desk and walk around the house in them some more, just for grins. If you have plantar fasciitis, you know the value of a good inside shoe. And this one is potentially the very best.
