Very On-Sale Loungewear For The Foreseeable Future

So…at least another month of this. And you know what? It’s going to be fine. Because we’re not stuck at home, we’re safe at home, and perspective is everything. You know what else is everything? Comfort. Where once I was allllll about the “real pants” move for at-home workdays, I am singing quite a different tune during quarantine. But not in the literally sense because my singing voice is offensive and potentially a mating call for wild boars. These days, you will find me in elastic waistbands, loose tops, and entirely structure-free bras if any. Comfort is key to maintaining a sense of calm, chill, and acceptance of the fact that this is our go-nowhere reality for awhile longer. We can make it, we will make it, and we will be comfy throughout.
If your loungewear is somewhat lacking, or if your access to laundry isn’t super simple right now, know that there are lots of affordable ways to round out your comfortable clothing wardrobe during these isolating times. Below, my personal favorite ways to stay comfy, cozy, and zipper-free for the duration of this Corona bitch’s reign.
Before shopping at all, ever, but especially during this time, I strongly suggest you sign up for Rakuten, which is a browser plug in that literally just gives you cash back on your purchases. It’s free to sign up, and it’s free money back, just for doing the things you were going to do anyway. I have been using Rakuten since 2017 and have made $462.52 just because I shopped for things. I know.
Velour Half-Zip: Oh my god do you guys remember velour? Do you remember half-zips?? This beauty is both those things. Not technically pajamas and therefor suitable for Zooms, it comes in three colors and is currently marked down to less than the cost of the last Lyft ride I took. (Or may ever take…oh god.)
Printed Pants: Why yes those are jaguars printed on these pants, thank you for asking. Any time something over $60 is marked down to less than $20, I’ll probably buy it, I don’t care what it is, it just so happens that these are conveniently catprint. If you’ve been loving Tiger King but can’t see yourself wearing full-cheetah, this is the move.
Lounge Jumpsuit: I know, I haven’t set foot in an Express since before I was old enough to vote either, but we have been massively overlooking this destination. The lounge jumpsuit is a sleeper (lol) favorite for Corona Couture, because it essentially allows you to get dressed in half the time and look 10x as cute. This soft wrap-front-and-back number comes in three colors and you also have my permission to wear it on walks.
Comfy Bra That’s Not Really A Bra: I own this bra, and completely recommend it for those of us on the smaller side of the bust spectrum. I’m a pretty full B-cup (I think? Who the hell actually knows), and I’m pretty much maxing one of these things out, but I love it as an around-the-house bra if I’m doing chores or going down to the communal laundry room. It comes in a ton of colors (I have the one shown here) and is very marked down at the moment.
Good Pants: You cannot go wrong with a good french terry wide leg, you just can’t. I often find myself replacing my sweatpants because I have a cat and she hates me, and a very affordable Old Navy pant is an effortless choice.
Fancy Time Pajamas: If you enjoy things that are $130 marked down to $37.48, you’re gonna love these jammies. Silky, and in a distinct style that says “I take my mimosas in bed, thank you,” these are pajamas for anyone who needs to take a day off in the middle of the week to chill the F out.
Eberjey Top: There is very little I enjoy more than Eberjey lounge clothing, except Eberjey lounge clothing on major sale. This is an absolute steal for a top you’ll gladly live in every day of your life. FYI Saks currently has lots of Eberjey on sale, though my eye was drawn to this sleepshirt…
The Softest Robe: Is there anything more not-clothes than a robe? While I don’t necessarily recommend wearing this to Zoom meetings, for all the times you don’t have to be screen-ready, a robe is perfectly acceptable if not preferred. I don’t know why these things feel so glamorous, like maybe you’re pretending you’re about to have a squad come over and do your hair and makeup, but I’m into it.
V Affordable Joggers: If I’m not mistaken, these are the cutest joggers money can buy for less than $25. I am telling you we have been criminally overlooking Express. There’s also a high waisted option in a very adorable colorway if you’re so inclined.
Modal Jammies: If I could exist solely in modal fabrics that would honestly be my strong preference. These also come in a hot pink hue but I’ve always found that I look quite spectacular in teal. If you can’t fathom the thought of another night in sweats and an old tee, you can’t beat this price for proper pajamas.
Floral Lightweight Sweatshirt: If you were born in the 80s and did not own something in this pattern at some point, I’d be shocked. I think my item was a pair of denim shorts. This top takes me back, and right now I’d like it to take me back to my couch to read a book. And don’t you worry, the matching bottoms are available too.
Honestly A Perfect Jumpsuit: Can’t you kind of see yourself living in this thing plus a cozy cardigan for the duration of this isolated timeframe? The price is outstanding, the comfort level is expert, and the color means you’ll be able to fully ignore any incidental coffee stains. I’m also rather obsessed with this Calvin Klein number as well.
Supersoft Hoodie: Continuing my revived love affair with Express, and my cognizance that spending $50 gets you free shipping, might I suggest an incredibly affordable, thoroughly soft hoodie to replace whatever old Christmas pajama top that’s currently working overtime for you? Fresh loungewear makes me feel more productive, even during times of utter sloth, and I love a good neutral hoodie for pairing with virtually any kind of bottoms. I also have a strong aversion to turning the heat on in April, and this’ll help.
Obvs A Candle: At this point in quarantine we might be falling victim to what I’ll call “inside smells.” A good candle can lift spirits and make days indoors float by a little faster. I also want to stress that “good” candles don’t have to be expensive. I’ve been using Boy Smells candles for about two years, and am incredibly pleased with the strength of their scents and their burn times. Purple Kush, pictured here, is one of my year-round favorites, but Cinderose is also amazing for the spring and summer months. Not on sale, but still a comfortable $32 and worth every penny to love the scent of your space.
