Podcast Episode: Tell Better Stories About Single Women
I have no words. I mean I have all the words but I have no words. My podcast guest this week is Glynnis MacNicol, author of No One Tells You This, absolutely essential reading for single women and generally alive human beings alike. She is a genuine inspiration to me both as a writer and also as someone who approaches single life in a different way than we have been societally programmed to. This is a treat.
Glynnis leaves some gems for us in this discussion, friends. She’s the kind of person who can open your eyes to shit that’s been happening all along and make you wonder a) why you never noticed and b) why you’re currently putting up with it now that you’ve been made aware. Part educator, part oracle, all brilliant.
We share a love of essential films (Moonstruck, Thelma & Louise) and also a rather saucy tone toward the storytelling industry altogether, which hasn’t delivered solid content to single women, about single women, since 1998. HBO, Netflix, fuck it even Hulu, please see this episode as a call to action—single women want and deserve stories about their lives that do not end in marriage and children like every other story has since the talkies first came out. Game of Thrones is ending, I’m freelance right now, give me a call.
