Hi, I’m Shani

I’m the host of A Single Serving Podcast and the author of A Single Revolution. I’m changing the narrative around being single, because so far it’s had pretty bad PR. I’m not an advocate for singlehood. I’m an advocate for women feeling good while single—there’s a difference.

Podcast Episode: Actually, It's Fine

Jenna Watling Neal is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Michigan State University. Recently, a piece by Bella DePaulo (also a podcast guest!) featured Jenna’s study on the prevalence and characteristics of childfree adults. I hadn’t come across a study yet that addressed childfree adults as our own cohort, so naturally I had to have Jenna as a guest! Her study produced some really interesting findings that I think this audience will appreciate hearing. The episode also begins with me taking a little dive into “proving” our worthiness and validity as singles through our accomplishments. Spoiler: We don’t have to do that.

This tier also includes new episodes every Monday, every single episode of the podcast that’s EVER been published, and access to the private Facebook group for this podcast, too. You also get access to a full reading of my forthcoming book’s introduction in an episode published on Patreon on 9/6/21 titled Shani’s (Extremely) Special Announcement.

How you can help the severely damaged river parishes in Louisiana following Hurricane Ida. This post has a variety of resources available to choose from, also simply sharing this post helps as well if you’re unable to donate. I also strongly recommend Feed The Second Line for information and ways you can help. The damage to our neighbors homes and livelihoods in the river parishes was catastrophic, and right now it’s essentially just neighbors helping neighbors. We can contribute to a louder and broader conversation!!
