Hi, I’m Shani

I’m the host of A Single Serving Podcast and the author of A Single Revolution. I’m changing the narrative around being single, because so far it’s had pretty bad PR. I’m not an advocate for singlehood. I’m an advocate for women feeling good while single—there’s a difference.

Podcast Episode: You're Not Late

Never not sharing selfies taken at the TWA Hotel.

In this week’s solo episode, I’m talking all about assumptions. The assumptions we make about dating, singlehood, relationships, etc. that can keep us limited in our thinking, and therefore feeling limited or “it’s too late” in our actual, day-to-day lives. Featuring contributions from three separate Patrons that came along at fortuitously the right time, your thoughts, concerns, and stories are representative of so many facets of singlehood, and so many opportunities for adjusting how we feel and think about not just our single time, but our lives in general. I’m so happy to share this episode with you, and as always please feel free to send any questions, topics for discussion, or guest ideas to asingleservingpodcast@gmail.com.

Easy Bread Recipe

3 cups flour

1.5 cups water

1/2 teaspoon yeast (I probably used a full teaspoon by accident, didn’t matter, turned out great)

1 teaspoon salt

Mix all ingredients in a bowl, I used a wooden spoon but use whatcha got. It will form a shaggy dough. Cover with a tea towel and let it sit overnight. I let mine sit from 7:30pm to 7:30am.

When you’re ready to bake, preheat your oven to 450. While my oven was preheating, I dumped my dough onto a floured surface, shaped it into a wonky ball, and dropped it into my dutch oven. I made a little X in the top but after it baked you could barely see it. I put the lid on and let it sit for like 30 minutes. Then I put my dutch oven in the actual oven and baked for 30 minutes with the lid on, and 15 more minutes with the lid off. I made EXCELLENT bread and I will do this all the time now.

Pro tip: When your bread comes out of the oven, immediately (and carefully) remove it from the dutch oven pot and place it on a cooling rack. Wait as long as you have the patience for and then slice and enjoy.

This is my new favorite recipe, de-throning this recipe from my number one spot.
