Hi, I’m Shani

I’m the host of A Single Serving Podcast and the author of A Single Revolution. I’m changing the narrative around being single, because so far it’s had pretty bad PR. I’m not an advocate for singlehood. I’m an advocate for women feeling good while single—there’s a difference.

Cover Me In Native Deodorant's Rosé Scent For Summer

This post is not sponsored or affiliated in any way but Native should feel free to get in touch.

Because there’s a pandemic afoot and I was afraid of my own shadow before leaving the house might get me sick, bath and body products are essentially my only joy. Recently, my friend Melody, who I’m lucky to know in general, sent me a birthday gift. Birthday gifts are of course the most important kinds of gifts, though in this house gifts are accepted any time. This queen sent me an entire set of Native’s rosé scented products for summer. Y’all…it’s a treat.

First, I’ve been purchasing and using Native products for about a year now. I am currently in possession of their Coconut & Vanilla deodorant which is heavenly, but I’ve been enamored with their Candy Cane scent that they released at the holidays and which I fear will run out at any moment and make me cry. The brand loves to release a limited-edition scent that’s seasonal and they have my admiration for it. I also have the Candy Cane body wash because if you make anything candy cane scented, chances are I’ll buy it.

I initially bought Native deodorant because I wanted to stop using products that contained harmful chemicals and because Instagram ads work. I was skeptical about the efficacy, but when used regularly Native works incredibly well and now I’m not afraid of what I’m putting in my own armpits. So, win. I love how clear the brand is, making ingredient lists very transparent and easy to comprehend. They also give you a lot of product for your money—this stuff lasts forever and is in my opinion worth every penny to smell nice while not also harming yourself with things that are terrible for you. All of their packaging is recyclable and they’ve also recently come out with deodorant in plastic-free packaging as well. In sum, they give a shit, and you get to smell nice.

Regarding the rosé, just roll me in it. I have no idea how they made a scent that smells like I wish rosé actually tasted, but they did. It’s sweet and bright and optimistic, all the things a pandemic summer promises not to be. If enjoying myself this summer means walking around smelling my own underarms, so be it. The body wash is like taking yourself somewhere really fun for a few minutes while you wash the funk of a heatwave from your person. If it wasn’t a waste of water I’d shower 16 times a day just to partake in these sweet suds. Honestly creating a candle in this scent wouldn’t be Native’s worst idea, just sayin’. This set came with deodorant in full and travel sizes, body wash, and two bars of soap which are now in my “Covid-Kit” for emergencies. If there are going to be future waves of this shit that’s no reason I can’t be clean and smell good.

If you too find your delight in bath and body products during this fa’cacta summer, I cannot stress enough how delightful Native’s rosé scent truly is. Thank you to my friend Melody, and Native, for this treat. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to go sit on the couch and smell fantastic.
